1.

 This year I am testing

love’s elastic. I am

carving new slots

out of the one organ,

unearthing new skin

for new. I am counting

the sedimentations of

my own breathing-

we no longer end where

our outlines appear.

I want time to be

more forgiving

than what we

were taught. I am

testing the elasticity

of all of this, of all

of me, to see it return

intact, open

to renewal

to repair.

  1. This is such an expansive, generous poem. I loved the way it evolved right up to its culmination.
