Dolphins (Or A longing that surfaces)

And then
all of a sudden

the silver skin of water
breaks, A small swell gathers
Takes form and leaps out

An ash-blue rainbow
unfastened from the sky. Wet, brilliant,
prism-touched, lifting crashing
and lifting again

Dolphins, I am told,
are guardians of the sea
Protectors of travellers, Keepers
of safe crossings

If this be a sign
I accept it, The sign of safe passage,
of finding shore: my heart/the world
to life restored.

  1. Amen to that, Deepti. Such a comforting poem. Just what I needed in this moment, after watching world news.

  2. So lovely and descriptive. And then the last few lines - let's hope to see dolphins in all the seas.
