Did I tell you my sister Kavitha is a poet?

She coaxes verses that nourish the

soul from soil contained in small

grow-bags placed on an open terrace

in a city that is infamous for heat

humidity cyclones and water problems.

Yet, her anthologies are all bestsellers

and the cover designs are to die for since

the Earth herself is my sister’s publisher.

that devours the delectable fare she pens

with spices, herbs, millet, brown rice and garlic

countries far and near so dear ones
