February Twilight

I stood beside a hill
Smooth with new-laid snow,
A single star looked out
From the cold evening glow.

There was no other creature
That saw what I could see—
I stood and watched the evening star
As long as it watched me.

মাঘী গোধূলি

দাঁড়িয়েছিলুম মসৃণ বরফে ঢাকা

একটা ছোটো পাহাড়ের পাশে

নিঃসঙ্গ একটা তারার তাকিয়ে থাকা

সেই শীতল সন্ধ্যের আভাসে।

পড়েনি বুঝি তা আর কারো চোখে

শুধু আমারই কাছে যা ধরা দিল এসে

এক ঠায় চেয়েছিলুম সে সন্ধ্যাতারার দিকে

আমায় সে যেমন দেখেছিল অনিমেষে।
