Looking in the wrong places

As long as I can remember, I've searched

for beauty. On my way to school I picked

coloured stones. Later I looked in churches

temples, galleries, places you get tricked

into thinking you know the secret, now

you can make it. I gained that arrogance

of form, taught by those who thought they knew how

Parampara of steps but not of dance

Somewhere between the hand and the handmade

between the bow and the long drawn note

between the page and the written word

Sometimes you find it, blurred, undeserved

beauty that saves you from drowning - a boat

beauty that cuts to the bone - a blade
