“Since when do you make other people’s plight
“A matter
of concern? For you, the sun
“Is dimmer
in the day when on its run
“Across the
sky, it slips into your sight.
“And darker
still the moon that shines so bright
“For those
who suffer, yet choose not to shun
“Their
neighbours—burdened, every single one—
“And choose
instead to celebrate the night.”
And what,
pray tell, might I have done to earn
Such scorn
from you? But even as I posed
The
question, an epiphany of shame:
My
ruminating mind had learnt to spurn
The outstretched
hands of friendship. I had closed
My heart to love. For this, I am to blame.
i did not see that coming! What an evocative take :)
