Philosophy is wonder in the face of the world

Merleau-Ponty said 

because we are the beings who stand

we can understand

and because we have opposable thumbs

we can manipulate

because we have speech

we have thoughts, 

not the other way round

and because we have thoughts

we have thoughts about ourselves

if we can touch 

we are touchable

and from wherever we can see

we can be seen

what we see is not actuality

we see possibility

the cup, there for the hand

to cup it, raise it to our lips

drink

in the inexhaustible world
