Distancing

 Of all the protocols
from that awful spring of plague
one has remained
growing in branch and flower.
Its thicket of leaves
now an impenetrable forest.

Distancing into a kind of intimacy.

    1. Thanks G. The only thing not awful about that spring of plague was having you with me in the first part of the lockdown.

  2. I sometimes remember how bizarre it is that we've all just moved on as if nothing happened. This poem keeps the memory of the time and its afterlife alive in a way, and I think that's necessary.
